Karen Antunes

This female phenom exploded onto the scene in 2012 as a purple belt world champion and quickly demonstrated her dominance as she progressed to the rank of brown belt securing more wins and the world championships.  After receiving her black belt in 2014, this CheckMat athlete went on to win the Five Super League tournament championship, and 3 IBJJF titles in both gi and no-gi, making her a dominate PLAYER among female grapplers. Karen's ferocity on the mat is juxtaposed to her infectious smile and humorous demeanor.  Easy going, with a quick wit, she's a pleasure to talk with and share ideas. Her game?  Basic she says.  On top or on bottom - how ever you play.

Tyler and Jena Bishop

Tyler and Jena, Gracie Humaita black belts train and teach in St. Louis. Jena, a 4x Pan and 5x World medalist; and Tyler holding multiple state, IBJJF, and super fight titles.  Their love of Jiu Jitsu extends well beyond training and competition, as they've spent hours studying and publishing their findings as it relates to the science of Jiu Jitsu.  Masterful work aggregating statistics and correlating patterns across thousands of matches and hundreds of players. Brian & Kevin Mahecha

American Top Team athletes and siblings, meet the Mahecha brothers.  Brian and Kevin Mahecha, both black belts, are considered among the top 10 competitors in their respective divisions. True students of the game, the Mahecha's focus on creating simplicity out of complexity.  Their deep understanding of technique and philosophy, allow them to translate variegated concepts in simple terms.  Their website (www.mahechabjj.com) is full of technical demonstrations and videos to help demystify the complex art of Jiu Jitsu. Carlos Saquic Perez

Currently training in New York at the world famous Marcelo Garcia Academy, this Alliance brown belt is a full time Jiu Jitsu competitor. Undulating between Light Feather and Rooster weight, his 2015 tournament season saw him on the podium in five IBJJF tournaments in both Gi and NOGI matches.  2016 started with a silver medal finish at the European Open. Like his soft spoken and quite demeanor, his Jiu Jitsu is precise and deliberate.  A true PLAYER, he's one to watch.

Madison Owning

Currently holding a blue belt ranking, this ATOS athlete has demonstrated dominance in the early stages of her Jiu Jitsu career.  Taking gold as a white belt in 2014 in both the IBJJF World Adult Championships and PAN American games, 2015 was spent collecting more gold medals, as a newly minted blue belt.  Five gold medals, to be exact, across several major IBJJF tournaments. In 2016, Madison is poised to dominate in the blue belt light weight division - ON TOP OR ON BOTTOM - however she plays.
